Nothing frustrates an IT audit more than cables that were installed years ago with no test reports and no warranty registration. We do the opposite: every cable we terminate is tested to the standard it was sold as (Cat6A permanent link or channel test, fiber Tier 1 insertion loss plus Tier 2 OTDR trace on request), and the pass/fail report is bundled into a project handover pack with cable IDs, patch panel maps, rack elevations and a photo record of every termination.
For customers who want long-term protection we register the installation with the manufacturer for their warranty program - typically 20 or 25 years on structured cabling components, provided the install used matched brand parts end-to-end. This matters for banks and law firms because it means the vendor is contractually on the hook if a certified link fails within the warranty period. It also matters at handover, sale or lease-end of an office because tenants can prove to a landlord or purchaser that the cabling estate has documented performance and a live warranty rather than an undocumented mystery.
